Melissa Dawn Peacock, where are you?

So the buses are on strike and everyone is in an uproar over that… but in the background there’s a parent missing their child… and no one is remembering that a lost child is more important than your lattes, miss appointments and all the ranting that’s going on today.

Ninety days ago a young lady names Melissa Peacock went missing, she was last seen leaving the Shannon park area in a dark car. NO one has heard from her since. She is someone’s baby. She IS someone period, someone who should be remembered and people need to realize this.

Nov 7th, 2011 was the last time she was seen

Someone out there knows something.

Melissa was a social butterfly, not a day went where she didn’t post something in her Facebook.  Then on November 7th of 2011 she disappeared, the last known message she sent to her mom was “I am with friends, but I don’t want to be here.” Her last known location based on the GPS of her android phone was Gore Nova Scotia.  She was last seen wearing an overly large black Ecko hoodie, black skinny jeans with silver clasps on the bottom and red and white Nike sneakers.  Melissa is light completed, 105 pounds standing at 5 foot 1 inch with medium length curly brown hair and Hazel eyes.

Melissa is 20 years of age 5' 2" and 105 LBS dark wavy medium length hair and hazel eyes.

Melissa had come back to Dartmouth from Moncton to be with her family after a close family friend had passed away, it was her time here that she apparently was spotted with a few lesser than pleasant persons from the neighbourhood. Regardless of this, she is still missed by her family. Her mother Ruth can be seen daily out on her stoop at her apartment on her cell phone texting family and or friends, her eyes, sad. She looks lost. I had a chance to speak to her and she is very worried about her daughter “regardless of your child’s age you can’t help wonder if they are ok, if they are doing well.” She said.

Melissa's well being is a great concern to her mother.

I asked if she had heard of her last known location and she said that the paper had published that info not long ago. She had also pointed out that she was very worried as Melissa left without her charger for her phone. When people call Melissa’s cell they sometimes get the answering service but for the most part they don’t.  I did some digging and the police had been given info leading them outside of the province. When they had been asked if they would be looking in this venue the response was “I guess we have to be open to that possibility” I raised my eye brows when I read this and though, “YA THINK!?”

Sometimes I wonder what it takes for the local police to really be concerned about the disappearance of a youth regardless of their age, who they hung out with or if they did or didn’t do what most would consider “unacceptable to today’s society.” She is a HUMAN after all and deserves all the respect anyone else deserves, even criminals get better treatment. Frankly I think they know more than they are letting on and they won’t even tell Melissa’s own parents…which is a shame and I feel for Ruth, not knowing is the worse part.

So I sit back and I do more digging, and remembered a posting on the Halifax police department’s facebook page and went back to look for it only to realize it’s no longer there… now I wished I had of screen shot it. The posting I do recall; was from a man, who is from the Dartmouth area, but the name he used isn’t actually his, but I did recognize his face. He use to deliver pizza but for which company escapes my memory and it’s been annoying the shit out of me since, anyway he had posted under the assumed name of Randolph Adams and had stated that Melissa was waiting for money so she could go to Winnipeg,  Well that lead that went nowhere, no one has been able to identify this man
nor give his whereabouts… The police had been left confused again, still not knowing for sure if Melissa had left on her own or not.

the name Randolph adams was an alias this man used when he posted in the Halifax Police's Facebook page.

To this day Melissa still hasn’t been heard from. To this day her Facebook remains untouched by an update from her.  Her aunt and grandfather look on a daily basis for more info that may lead to her safe return. Her Brother misses her greatly and friends are worried constantly about how she is.

Police investigate a home in Center Rawdon at 51 Douglas Rd

Currently there is an investigation in Hants County on a home at 51 Douglas Road in Center Rawdon since Thursday. The owner of the property is 48 year old Michael Frankly Verge. Mr. Verge hasn’t been seen in the area in a few years according to his brother. Verge is believed to have a son but it’s not known if his son lived with him or not.

Officers have not said what they have discovered but they believe that Melissa may have met with foul play due to her lack of family contact and social media updates for so long.
So now as I close with this blog that I’ve been working on for over a month,  my questions are… Who is it that she went with that night that she didn’t want to be with? Why Gore?
How come the odd text messages? Why didn’t she send something else to let her mother know WHO she was with in order to ensure her safety… (after all she was apparently hanging out with people who weren’t so favorable) Was it REALLY Melissa who sent those messages? and where is her phone? Was it found? Here’s hoping some of these questions will be answered soon and here’s hoping that Melissa is found!

Again someone knows something and her family deserves closure.

Updates to come…

I am amazed at this blog! You really hit the nail on the head!! Well done! I am a friend of ruth’s and have been following the reports and this is the first time seeing this blog. Weird! I was outraged when the reporters interviewed the man in that pic and listened to what he had to say. I wrote the news company immediately, raging at their incompetence! It does my heart good to see someone having ruth’s back! Thank you!

I don’t know Ruth all that well but I know where she lives, I know about her and her daughters background and a few other aspects… I didn’t get involved in that personally… I reported this like ANY parent would. With concern, and with some sence of diginity to the family… NO ONE wants to see their “Skeletons” in print… it hurts… I was looking to help not piss off anyone other than the ratbastard who took Melissa from her family. She deserves to have a happy ending like anyone else. I am quite upset thou to think that the possibility of foul play has been added to the aspect but in reality there’s really not a likely good out come to come from her disapperance. I just hope Ruth gets the closure she and the rest of her family deserves. I know it’s going to be super hard on Melissa’s little brother to Tyler who’s quite close to his sister, and I KNOW how much he misses her but again closure is what this whole family needs, or at least to know she’s still around… and safe. NEWS HAS to have a “twist” in order to be good to them, personally I’m no bonified journalist but be damed if I’m gonna make crap up and rip people down just to “sell” my story…
