So I learned the hard way about Metro housing and their inhumane ways they treat their tenants… Us “poor foke” are treated like trash because we’re not “working class” and made to wait for services that are somewhat essential for a persons well being. If we were well to do we wouldn’t have to wait. Garbage disposal is now something we all have to deal with on our own seeing as our community cans were removed and not because of misuse from the tenants but due to illegal dumping by others. Tenants can’t leave their trash outside anymore due to all the strays in the area ripping apart bags and making a horrid mess making our community look as bad as it’s reputation. Housing won’t build trash boxes at each tenants home to use in order to lower that mess issue and keeping trash inside is a health issue on it’s own as we don’t want rats inside out places. It’s bad enough we have to deal with other unwanted critters…
Speaking of such, if most of those reading this were to get bed bugs, you’d call an exterminator right away and schedule a spraying. Housing on the other hand makes tenants wait… up to 4 days before they spray them AND get this… they don’t even send out “prep” sheets to the tenant who reports the issue they expect them to KNOW all this stuff… (For those who’ve NEVER had bugs before it SUCKS when the exterminator says, sorry we
can’t spray you; you’re not ready) I can see waiting a day giving tenants time to prepare. BUT for 4 days? With no prep info only to have tenants turned down… and the worse of it is…if a tenant doesn’t call by 4 pm on Thursday or 4 pm on Monday … they don’t get on the list to be sprayed at all… they have to wait! Those who are allergic to the bites will be left in agony for days while trying to battle the critter issue and worse still the cost to do so is HORRID.
I strongly feel that this treatment of the tenants in housing is unethical, inhumane and down right deplorable. It’s like tenants are given a sentence that for as long as they reside here they are at the mercy of the board that runs this place. “You’re well being is NOT that important… Deal with it!” I swear to god (and I’m not the only one to think this) but sometimes I see too many similarities where monies which are sent to do good aren’t being used in the right spots… and like the TV show Orange is the new Black where the site coordinator is skimming funds… It seems too similar in that aspect with Housing. We have poor service, we have essential services removed or limited, our community property is left to look like a local dump because there’s no one to clean the messes the strays and wild life make. How is it that such a large city run “business” can be permitted to leave customers/clients in some of the states that they do? Where is this new Administrator?
The person who’s responsible in maintaining the property Via the crew he runs in keeping the sight of this site clean! Well… currently… He’s on vacation. (Something I suppose he’s entitled to… even if he’s new to the job)
So who’s next in command? Janet (last name escapes me… Burt seems to ring a bell)? The Metropolitan Regional Housing Authority general manager… Well I haven’t had any satisfaction from her either (I’ve called) in seeing the several issues in this area resolved either and the so called promises she’s made in the past to aid in the bed bug and rodent problems haven’t been resolved at all…
*Take away the trash bins that REALLY helped! NOT!*
So where does one go to get the help they need or want? Only solutions now days is to talk to speak to your MLA like I have (SEVERAL times… poor bugger MUST be getting sick of me! but at least he HELPS!)I feel that the issues with housing has gone on long enough and something has to be done with the administration that runs this place because they are doing a poor ass job of things. If the bed bug issue isn’t rectified soon I know some thought of plans would be to gather up some of the wonderful critters and set them loose daily in the main office… (if they can’t deal with them for 4 days at a time NEITHER should tenants!!!) I’m sure a few 100 bugs tossed around an office will DEFINITELY make someone move. … Don’t you?
